JEANS FOR THICK

Hello everyone, its safe to say happy new year since I haven't made a post in a long time. I have been pretty occupied with school work and exams. I have decided to put in more effort and be consistent with anything I do, so help me God lol. Without taking so much of your time, let's get to today's post.

If you know me or you have been following me @obsy_p, you will know very well that I am not on the slim side, even more, pronounced lower body which has its advantages and disadvantages lol. But hey, you have got to love yourself/body. That's the first step to self-confidence, rock that thickness like nothing else, embrace your curves, dress well and look fly :)

One of the major problems for us thick girls is actually finding the perfect jeans that fit. For me, my thighs are thicker than my waist so when I get jeans that actually fit my thighs, it turns out that the waist is too big which saddens me a lot.  I can't count how many times I get this question. I also find it very hard to get very comfortable jeans but I think I seem to have a little way around it which I am willing to share.

These are my tips in no particular order:

Know your size and wear your size: Sometimes, we thick girls get the illusion that we are small or maybe feel ashamed to get a larger size. This right here is your number one problem. Don't be ashamed of who you are, I wear size 42 for my trousers and sometimes size 42 isn't really size 42 in shops that have fluctuating sizes. There are also times I would have to go a size up- 44 just to make sure they fit perfectly. So please stick to your size, it even gives you more confidence when you find your size and they fit and trust me its a lot easier to dress in your size without feeling too big ;)

I luckily stumbled on the perfect jeans from pull and bear: size 42 and stretchy

Stretchy jeans: Now I'm not talking about jeggings or tights. I mean actual jeans but stretchy. I personally love these types because they take the shape of my body which gives it that perfect fit. Sometimes I get my actual size and make sure they are stretchy so that the waist doesn't turn out too big. But be careful because in some shops, when the jeans are stretchy, it will be perfect to go a size lower for that perfect fit, here I recommend you try it out in the changing room before purchasing (which I detest so much). Most of the time I buy them to try at home, if they don't fit, I return them.

Jeans are from mango- size 42

High Waisted Jeans: I love high waisted jeans. it definitely gives my body a very nice silhouette. In fact, I recommend that most of your jeans be high waisted. It helps to hide some of those naughty folds that would pop out if you wore low waisted jeans. You could even pass with a crop top and not look or feel too exposed.

Jeans are high waisted and stretchy from Fashionnova - size 1x (plus size)

Jeggings/tights: I don't own a lot of these because some of them are not as durable. They look and feel nice at first but after a while, they start slacking or getting overstretched. Instead of them fit perfectly, they drop down from the waist etc. But I mean not all are expensive so you can keep restocking when they wear out. Also, there are some durable jeggings, I get mine from Zara most times.

    Jeggings from Zara: size Large

Other pants I recommend are wide legged pants or palazzo pants: Of cos, these are for the special occasions. Those dressy moments you want to feel very put together, try investing in these. They make you look so expensive without trying.

    Pants from Zara

If you don't seem to get your size from the regular section, check out the plus size section, they definitely have nice jeans that will definitely fit.

I recommend these shops: Zara, Tally Weil, fashionnova  prettylittlething

If you would like me to make a post on how to look expensive on a budget, do let me know. I hope you've been able to learn a few tips on how I select the perfect jeans to wear for my body type. Feel free to ask me any more questions you may have.

Stay blessed and remember CONFIDENCE is the best outfit anyone could rock. :)

    THE TRUTH ABOUT LIP BALMS

Hello guys, welcome to today's blog post which is talking about lip balms. Lip balms are very essential for a moisturized lip, especially in the cold and dry weather. Tip: Its also very important to use a lip balm before putting on a matte lipstick to avoid a cracked dry lip (totally unattractive).

I remember when I was younger, all I used to moisturize my lips was vaseline. Then as I grew older, I started using lipgloss lol, those ones that would make your lip shineeeee. Then I gradually evolved to lipsticks etc.

Fast forward to recent times, I have tried all manner of lip balms. The ones that are claimed to be the best and the ones I try for experimental purposes but I find out that I still tend to peel my lips. I hate when my lips are dry and cracked, so you will always find me peeling and peeling to get rid of the dead skin. To save me the hassle of always peeling, I needed a good lip balm that would genuinely moisturize my lips and last for a long time leaving my lips soft and smooth. Still yet to find the best lip balm? then this post is for you.

I recently found out why some of those lip balms moisturized my lips for some hours and ended up drying up my lips. Most of the lip balms I used contained fragrances or dyes which tend to be drying. To find out products to watch out for included in lip balms that could cause potential harm to your lips, check out this very informative review: lip balm review. A team of researchers decided to put this review together and they also included their top picks which I will be purchasing to try out (they are very affordable).  At the moment, all the lip balms have failed me so far but here are a few things I recommend to be doing alongside using your lip balm:
    • Every morning, whilst brushing my teeth, I try to always brush my lips aswell to get rid of any dead skin. I always feel great after this process. Leaves your lips feeling fresh and soft.
    • The popular lip scrub: I must confess, I'm lazy when it comes to mixing products for skin care, but I do it whenever I remember and have the energy. Brown sugar, Honey, and olive oil. This mixture is also good for the face as well. It leaves the lips moisturized and very soft.

If you will like to see reviews of any products, please don't hesitate to send a message and I will try to get to it.

Thank you for taking out time to read this post. Keep living your dreams.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE STARTING A BUSINESS

Hello guys, welcome to yet another blog post. Its been so long since I sat down to write and tbh I'm not sure to say I was busy because I could actually create time for this. I was just caught up with so many other things like growing Deluxe Hues, having fun and spending time with family. I am back in school now for the last most stressful lap of medical school, God help me lol.

Today I will be talking about a few things you need to know before starting a business/being an entrepreneur. I started my business almost a year ago and I have learned sooo much. I haven't even been too long in the game but I certainly can feel the weight lol. Here are a few points:

    • You have to have PASSION for whatever it is you want to do. This is the first and most important thing about starting a business or being an entrepreneur. Passion is the only thing that will sustain you in the business world and the only drive to do more regardless of whatever goes wrong. As we go on, you will get to understand why this is really important.
    • Being an entrepreneur is never as rosy as it looks on the outside. When you start a business, you have taken a big step. It means a few people would know about you and what you do. Obviously, business is meant to bring income (money) so no matter the stage you are, be it the early or late stage of your business, you are already considered to be making lots of money which is not necessarily always the case. So if you see someone start a business and it looks like he or she is making money and that's why you would want to start yours, then you are on the wrong path.
    • You will LOOSE a lot of money. It might not be the same for everyone but from my experience, you have to lose money. The business itself is a risk, it may be fruitful and may not. It is a 50:50 thing. In starting a business, you will have to learn somethings on your own that no one else can teach you. You will have to find different tactics in making your business succeed and in the process is where you loose money because everything is trial an error. What works for the other person may not work for you. No one likes to loose money especially when you are not likely to recover it soon enough, that is why you need your Passion to be top notch if you really want to succeed at what you do.
    • You need PATIENCE. You will get annoying customers/clients for sure. Some clients can be very understanding while some can be very rude. This is where self-control and patience come into play. No matter how annoying clients are, you need to give a good customer service. Sometimes, it is not always all about the money, you definitely won't make money all the time. You have to see every client as an opportunity for more clients aka more money :). Just by giving good customer service, you will be surprised at how much your services would be recommended regardless of how expensive or cheap your services are. Establish good working relationships, network and get connected.
    • You will get frustrated. Im speaking from experience o lool. See, there are so many logistics behind setting up a business and just when you think you have gotten a hang of it, something else has to go wrong๐Ÿ˜ค. Trust me frustration at this point is an understatement because you are not just getting the logistics wrong, you are also loosing money in the process๐Ÿ™† and this is where you sit back and question yourself lol, is this business really for me?๐Ÿ˜“ DO NOT GIVE UP! Just keep pushing, it only means you are almost at your breakthrough point, you just need to give it more time and energy. Ask questions from people that have been through your stage, get feedbacks from your clients and most importantly PRAY!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™‡ There is nothing to trivial for him to handle. The moment you feel the heat, just take a step back and breathe, relax and take it one step at a time.
    • Dont be in a hurry to 'blow' lol in Nigerian terms (to blow more or less means to be extremely successful in fame and financially), success is not a days journey. It takes a lot of time, and you need to put in the work for as long as it takes. Tthat's the only way you can appreciate your success. Try to enjoy the process, it would be worth it at the end.
These are just a few of many others. I will also be throwing them in even as im on my journey to success but these are the most important things everyone should know.
Thank you for your time and dont forget nothing is impossible. Keep living your dreams.

MY FAVORITE HIGH END MAKEUP PRODUCTS

Hello everyone, hope all has been going well so far. Exams have really taken the best of me and I honestly can't wait to be done. Today I will be talking about my favorite high end makeup products. I am one person that loves to try new products but won't let go of the previous ones that have been working well for me if that makes sense lol. These are high end products so expect that their prices are going to be higher than the regular ones we are used to.

The first product I will begin with would have to be the Lancome Teint idole Ultra 24hr foundation. I dont know the best word to describe this product other than it is awesome. It lasts all day and its extremely flawless. Its medium-full coverage and semi matte for all my oily skin ladies. I have an oily to combination skin and I still get a tad bit oily at my t-zones which is my problem area. It has to be my best foundation.

The next product would be my favourite mattifying primer. Urban Decay De-slick complexion primer. If you ever want that matte finish? this is the best primer for you. It just gets the job done and a little definitely goes a long way.

Macs eyebrow pencil in stud. My relationship with this brow pencil is phenomenal. Its almost like if I run out, theres no other option than to go without makeup. Even if I try other brands which I really haven't, I still run back to my mac pencil. To be honest, the downside is that it runs out quickly, I dunno but maybe its because of the way I use it because quite frankly that's all I use.

MAC-in-extreme dimension 3D black lash mascara. Ever since I tried this mascara, I always try not to run out and if I do I must restock asap. Lashes are a huge deal in your makeup. Try putting on makeup and don't put on mascara or lash extensions, the look can never be complete. I am still trying to get used to fixing fake lashes because that alone can take me an hour ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. Until I get used to it, I will stick with a mascara that elongates my natural lashes. This mascara is so efficient in making your lashes look like they are fixed honestly. Of cus there are other options but the best high end I have used has to be this one.

My favorite concealer still remains the mac pro longwear concealer. It has the perfect consistency for the under eye and last a long time.

These are pretty much my favorite high end products. For other makeup products, I use any brand be it high end or low end doesnt really matter to me. I try to invest in quality products because my skin is quite sensitive so I dont mind spending a few extra pennies to get a good product. I dont wear make up everyday so I allow my skin to breathe.
Like I said earlier, these are high end products, so there are definitely dupes for cheaper that does almost same job as these ones only that I just haven't tried them all yet lol. Feel free to use products according to your budget and whatever works for you. If you have any questions, please don't fail to contact me on any of my social media platforms. Until then, keep living your dreams :)buy here

    ......22.......23!!

    Hello guys,

Its been a very long while since I made a blogpost. A lot has been going on from school work, to organizing events and even emotional conflicts. Its all not been easy but im so happy I
took the bold step in writing this today even though I have an exam in two days lol.

Did I mention, its my birthday today? hence the title of this post. I clocked 23 today, Glory be to God! and yh I know I am pretty young but trust me the mind isnt ;)

So lets get right into the topic for today. Like I said earlier, I am 23 and I just want to share a few deep thoughts. I will be sharing some of my experiences. Lets call it a reflection on the past to polish the future. I will start with some of the good things. May 24th 2016, I turned 22. That alone is worth thankful for and I recall I was really excited. I had my 4th year medical school exams and passed them all. In November 2016, I launched my small makeup brush line/beauty and fashion company- Deluxe Hues which was a very big achievement I must say and since then we have been growing gradually. The highlight of my life at 22 was the death of my beloved mother. If you have read my post from some months back 'My first christmas without mummy' you would know this. My mum fell ill in May and was sick till her death on the 6th of September 2016. This was definitely the most difficult time of my life and I am so surprised I have been able to stand strong. It is still very difficult for me because she was a major part of my life, my world, my everything and even on this day being my birthday, I can only imagine all that she would have done or said to me. I dont even know if I have come to terms with the fact that shes gone or I have just plain accepted the theoretical knowledge of the fact that she is dead.

I tell you today, this has been the hardest time of my life. Having to deal with similar cases in school as a medical student and how her life could have been saved, if only our Nigerian doctors knew what they were doing or had the right equipment or diagnosis. This doesn't make it any easier for me.

She died in September 2016 and fast forward to May 2017, nothing's changed, I still feel every pain like it was the first time I heard the news. This is something you will never understand until you have lost someone so close to your heart. Its like the pain never goes away, its like its lifelong. I am here to encourage myself and anyone out there that might be having a hard time dealing with pain as deep as losing a loved one or whatever the cause of the pain may be. Its ok to be sad, It's ok to cry for as long and hard as you want. It is not ok to suck up your feelings because you feel it's been long enough, no time is long enough. Dont beat yourself up for crying so hard and embarrassing yourself in the presence of your friends. Dealing with pain can drive you to depression and other forms of mental/emotional instability. Just take it one day at a time and never forget that God is with you and he will never leave you at a time like this. You cannot go through this pain alone, if you go about it the wrong way you'd end up on the wrong side of life. This is the most crucial time of your life where you will be hypersensitive to anything. Just keep your eyes focused on God and all will be well at the end I can assure you so do not fret :)

For those who have not experienced this form of pain caused by grief, try not to condemn what the other person is going through. However form they choose to show their emotion or express their feelings should be accepted, as long as it isn't dangerous to you or the person in question. Please bear with them and allow them to express themselves as this is the only way they could heal. No one is better off than the person that is grieving. Death isn't for specific people, its for everyone and anyone can lose a loved one at anytime.

I am so grateful for how far I have come and all I have been able to achieve in a short while despite the circumstances. I am very positive that God's got my back this new year and greater things are yet to unravel in my life. Join me to celebrate this big 23 and much more years to come and happy birthday to anyone who has their birthdays today and in the month of May.

Thank you so much for your time and remember Nothing is Impossible!

    FEMINISM

Hello everyone, welcome to todays blog post. Hope the weeks have been going good. Today's post is all about Feminism and its concept just to give a little insight to those who may not understand the movement.

According to google, the definition of Feminism states 'the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes'. For a long time, i couldn't call myself a feminist but its not because of the misconceptions of feminism, like feminists are always angry, feminists dont get married, feminists don't like to perform wifely duties and a lot more. My reason was because i just thought there was a deeper meaning to feminism which i wasnt aware of and it would really be unfair to call myself a feminist when i am not well informed. Overtime, we find out that a lot of women are also afraid of calling themselves feminists due to the various misconceptions and how society has termed feminism to be.
Due to this misconceptions, a lot of people have gotten the movement all mixed up and have given it different meanings.

Based on the definition above, it is what it is, there's no other meaning or personal meaning. It is equality of sexes, male and females are able to coexist "anywhere" without any of the gender being oppressive or dominating. Feminism is feminism everywhere, in the home, place of work, school, anywhere. Men are also to fight for the rights of women too. Imagine if it were to be your mum or sister or daughter being pushed around by a man because he feels he is the man he has to be superior. This means men are also to be Feminists, it's not just for women. Women have worked so hard over the years to get to where we are right now, it would be totally unfair to undermine their efforts because of fear and societal believes. As a girl, your parents worked so hard to give you quality training, will you be doing them good to just go and be dominated by a man just because you think you are inferior? where did all the education go?

Please ladies, dont be afraid to fight for your right, you are worth more than you think. Being a Feminist doesn't mean be disrespectful, or don't perform your role as a wife which is to love your husband the same way your husband is supposed to love you. Marriage and Feminism are mutually exclusive. Do some more research on the concept of feminism. I will start by leaving a link to a well informed podcast that will guide you on what feminism truly is. Go out and shine and be confident in yourself. Shout out to the guys that advocate for womens' rights.

Feel free to leave your comments and if you have any questions. Until next time, dream big and remember NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!
